Peter and Vicki McKernan commenced business, of which Anchorage Houseboats is now a division, when they moved to the Eildon township in 1985. The business initially grew by supplying and installing electrical componentry on houseboats. Their work on houseboats has made their name synonymous with a huge majority of houseboats on Lake Eildon. In recent years, the manufacture of new houseboats has met with resounding success. The continued controlled growth of the business and the development of new houseboat manufacturing necessitated a restructure
Ivor Bumbers joined the team in 2005 to focus on the "pre-loved" houseboat market. He has over 35 years experience on Lake Eildon, and with his family, were houseboat owners for 8 years from 1986-1994; shop traders in Eildon for 12 years - auto & marine spares from 1992-2004, adding the bait-n-tackle from 1997-2004; owned and operated Eildon Lake Charters from its beginning in 1998 to its sale in 2005. He wrote and published the book "Lake Eildon A Record Low"; was involved as a foundation committee person and member of Eildon Action from its inception in 1995 until today and was presented with an Australia Day Achievement Award in 2000. He and his family have lived in Eildon since 1992
